Southampton Classical Guitar Society ~ Teacher Profile

Jonathan Prag

I have been teaching guitar for many years with pupils ranging from beginners to accomplished musicians and from ages five to seventy-five. I use the Trinity-Guildhall board for examinations.

I have taught at St Mary’s College and Charlton House since the early 1990s and many of my pupils there have achieved success at graded music exams and gone on to study music at college and university. I am dedicated to promoting the classical guitar as the most versatile of all musical instruments, capable of performing all styles of music, from the earliest to the most contemporary, and firmly believe that learning to play the guitar should be an enjoyable experience.

I began playing the guitar when I was twelve although my first instrument was the viola. I studied guitar with Adrian Neville in Southampton and then with international classical guitarist, Carlos Bonell, in London (with whom I performed a highly successful show based on the life and writing of the Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca).

Lesson are normally 30 minutes. For availability and fees, please contact me via email in the first instance to arrange a mutually agreeable time.
