Welcome to Southampton Classical Guitar Society

Southampton Classical Guitar Society meets twice monthly in Romsey at the 13th Century King John's House.

We are a friendly bunch of amateur enthusiasts and semi-professionals who share a joy in the beautiful sound even we can make this outstanding instrument produce.

We arrange several concerts each year with top players, organise workshops and perform in charity concerts.

We have only one entrance criterion: a love of classical guitar. You don't even have to play. Find out more here. We know you'll like us so the first meeting is free!

Our year is turning into one of our most successful in our 37 year history with records being broken all the time.

Membership is up 25% (over 50% up on 12 ago). Attendance at meetings is up so much we are actually thinking of moving to a larger venue after 25 years in the current location.

We have seen superb recitals by Xuefei Yang, Gary Ryan and Carl Herring with 2 or 3 more to come later in the year. Audiences figures are at record levels.

We are forging strong links with other groups in the area and are particularly encouraging young people to play classical guitar.

We are classical guitar enthusiasts who organise regular meetings, ensembles and workshops. We promote a very successful series of public celebrity concerts featuring major artists from around the world. If you love classical guitar, we'd love to meet you.

As a registered charity our aims are to provide a regional focal point for those interested in the classical guitar.

We have vacancies for new members. There is NO minimum standard: we welcome classical guitarists of any ability, from absolute beginners to experienced professionals. Non-playing enthusiasts are equally welcome. Newcomers always comment on how friendly we are. Unsure? Come along and try us - first meeting free!

Get in touch if you want more information (see contacts). If you are already convinced and wish to join, an application form is here.
